Servicing & MOT
Servicing for all makes and models
Manufacturers servicing schedules vary, but typically your vehicle will need servicing every year, or every 10,000 miles – whichever comes first.
As an independent mechanic, Adam has access to the same parts network as the main dealers, but thanks to lower overheads, can carry out equivalent level servicing at a fraction of their price.
As part of the routine service work, Adam will also thoroughly inspect the steering, braking and suspension systems to ensure your vehicle is safe for the road too, highlighting any repairs he feels should be made.
And always keen to point out the importance of regular oil changes using good quality engine oil, Adam also stresses that skipping services is likely to be a false economy in the long term.
A full service will identify any failing parts at an early stage – allowing you to get them repaired before they potentially fail – leaving you both stranded, and with a much bigger bill than you would have had in the first place!
MOT Testing
Servicing a vehicle will make sure it’s in good mechanical order, but an MOT test is also required by law for all cars over 3 years old to ensure they meet road safety and environmental standards too.
Give Adam a call to get your vehicle booked in for a service or MOT.
Brakes & Suspension
Brakes worn out?
Don’t just wait for the warning light to come on – there’s no second chance with failing brakes.
Any squealing, grinding or vibrations through the brake pedal most likely indicates worn brake discs, pads, or maybe both. Or soft-feeling brake pedals travelling too far could be due to a dangerous leak in the fluid system – get it checked – let Adam take a look for you.
Offering very competitive prices on parts and labour for fitting new discs, pads and brake fluid changes. Adam will happily talk through the most cost-effective way to keep your vehicle safe for the road.
Suspension problems
The suspension on our modern vehicles is a complex system, subjected to heavy wear and tear, only made worse by the condition of our roads.
Any knocking noises or vibrations shouldn’t be ignored, and any feelings of your vehicle ‘just not feeling right’ is a sure sign something is wrong. Speak to Adam, with your vehicle on the workshop lift, it’s much easier to see exactly what’s going on underneath – he’ll talk you through any issues he finds and explain the best way to put them right.
Shock absorbers probably take the most abuse from our poor roads, and will be the likely culprit of your vehicle feeling unstable on the road, or any noticeable change in its handling. With a quick inspection, Adam can quickly tell if any need to be replaced. Not only critical for your safety, but also to prevent a failure at the next MOT too.
General Repairs
Keeping your vehicle roadworthy
Over and above routine servicing. Adam can take care of all repairs and day-to-day maintenance your vehicle may need:
Exhausts, clutches and alternators – all in a day’s work for Adam’s Autocare.
Don’t forget about the condition of your tyres – the one critical part of your vehicle in constant contact with the road. Cam belts shouldn’t be neglected either – as a rule of thumb they should be replaced every 5 years – and it’s often more cost effective to get the water pump done at the same time.
Batteries, wiper blades and bulbs – let Adam take care of these too.
And don’t ignore those ‘little noises’ every once in a while, or that warning light that didn’t go out first time – they’re normally a sign of something that will creep up at the worst possible time – get it checked.
Nothing is ever too much trouble and no job too small. Adam uses manufacturer-approved or equivalent parts and all his work is guaranteed. Whatever needs doing – just give Adam a call to talk it through – he’ll be able to help.
Diagnostics
Keeping up with technology
Technology develops at an ever-faster pace – and so does the complexity of our modern vehicles.
It’s very tempting to ignore a warning light in the hope it’ll just go away. Often this approach just stores up a problem, making it a more serious and expensive one to put right in the long-term.
To keep up with those advances in technology, Adam knows how important it is to invest in the latest fault-finding equipment to keep up. He’s fully trained to carry out full diagnostic checks on the vast majority of modern cars. Issues with airbags, fuel systems, emissions and much more besides, can all be identified and dealt with before those niggling faults fester into a larger problem.
If your vehicle is plagued by electrical issues or recurring intermittent faults – give Adam a call to arrange a full diagnostic check.
